Very little to report today. I did as much puttering around as I could but eventually had to flee the house to avoid the hideously loud whine of the planer. Andy was getting some boards down to 3/4″ for some shelves he’s making for my sewing room. I’m super excited and grateful about the shelves, but the planer noise doesn’t put me in the best mood ever. I’m exploring solutions besides leaving the house. When he finally sounded the all-clear, I came home to a car alarm going off repeatedly across the street. Not a good day for ears.
On a positive note, leftover Indian takeout makes a really marvelous lunch. I also got some new videos at the library and a snazzy new case to store small bobbins holding samples of my weaving yarns. Having the bobbins is something I just learned in a workshop from Ruby Leslie; the bobbins make it easier to play with the colors and decide how to put them together (as opposed to trying to bung around some big fat cones). I can also mark on each bobbin the closest Prismacolor match so I can get out my colored pencils and dream up fabric. As a matter of fact, I think I’ll go do that right now.

I love leftover Indian for breakfast. It’s like pizza to me – no way to decide which I like better, the hot dinner or the cold breakfast the next day.
My wood planer fantasy is to line the basement with sound absorbent foam rubber cones that are filled with carbon dioxide.
Uh, what? What does the CO2 do? Also, only if the setup has a very thin profile– you don’t have enough room down there as it is!
No, I definitely don’t have room or money for such a setup. But the CO2 helps to absorb sound, for some reason.
