Day 82: Roll ‘em up!

by Darcy on January 21, 2010

Today marks 8 years since my sweet little momelet said Adios, Earthlings! and breathed her last. I have in the past liked to plan something special for this day but didn’t get it together to do so this year. Sorry, Mom. More like, sorry, me. Because now I don’t have the distraction I need for tonight.

I was nice and distracted during the day, though, with weaving (finished the chenille warp that came on the Brown loom), weaving guild (presentation on Japanese textiles, neat stuff), and knitting with a friend. Except I was less knitting and more just running my mouth.

And if that was not enough excitement for the day (and it was), after getting home I left the side door unlocked for Andy but then heard sounds like someone was trying to come in, but Andy’s still in class, and what the? Hello, scary drunk man! Why are you trying to come into my house!?

I was nicer than that, of course. First thing I did was to ask him if he needed help, because he had the shakes pretty bad, and I didn’t know if he was just looking for somewhere to curl up and die get out of the cold. Not that I was going to offer our house for him to do it in, but he looked in pretty bad shape. Maybe he needed someone to call 9-1-1 or something.

So we cleared up that he was looking for a different house (same number, one block over), and I am just glad that I caught him before his seriously impaired motor skills got our door open. He turned around as if to leave but then just kind of stood there for a while. I waited until he trembled his way back down the driveway.

I really wonder who has the same house number as me on the next block over that this guy just waltzes into their house. Maybe it’s his house? But then he’d recognize it, right? Freaky. Moral of the story is: sorry, Andy, no more leaving the side door unlocked for you!

I’m still feeling pretty anti-social, so I’ll end here for today. And can someone please tell me they get the reference in the title? That would just cheer me up no end. Thanks.

Please tell me you are not referring to Vanilla Ice.

Glad you did not become a temporary detox center. Sending much lub your way, roomie!

All I can think of is the Vanilla Ice song.

Sending good karma thoughts your way.

Vanilla Ice?! Nooo!!! I don’t even *know* that reference.

Think 80s movies. Anyone?
