Day 71: Let the cleansing begin

by Darcy on January 10, 2010

I can finally start to tell you what happened. While we were in Seattle, our beloved friend and housesitter let someone we both absolutely cannot stand sleep in our bed. We had given him permission to sleep there (I’d have rather not, but it seemed unkind to make him sleep on the fold-out twin for 8 nights), but we did not give him permission to just loan out the bed to whomever. Didn’t realize I had to say that specifically out loud. Lesson learned.

Because our bedroom got energetically polluted, we’ve got a rather substantial cleansing ritual on tap for today. Every piece of linen in there is getting aired outside and then washed, plus the mattress and headboard need to get cleared using sound. Every other item possible will be carried outside and left in the sun as long as possible to clear its energy. Salt will be poured on the floor and left to absorb the ick, then vaccuumed up and disposed of outside. Water will be blessed with intention and every surface in the room will be wiped clear.

Even after this multi-hour ritual cleansing, I’m still planning to donate our beloved mattress to the future guest room bed and get us a new one. Yeah, that’s how grossed out we are. Did I mention she was also too drunk to drive when she stayed there? So her unwelcome energy was extra polluted. Shudder.

Up sides of the situation are that this kind of cleansing ritual is better done under a waning moon, which we currently have, and even better under a void of course moon, which starts today just after noon, and hooray, it’s better to start when the sun is declining, so that timing is fortuitous. I’m learning about cleansing rituals from my awesome teacher. We’re getting a golden opportunity to work together as a team.

I’m reminded that I have a ways to go yet on making travel work for me. I knew that, but now I’m more clear on what systems specifically need to be shored up to make traveling more palatable. Much more clarity of expectations will be established with anyone who stays in our home. Maybe we’ll keep trips short enough that someone staying here to water the cat isn’t necessary.

The creation of a proper guest room will be getting bumped to the top of our priority list, and what has to happen to make that a reality is all good stuff. Another electricity project will get completed. A big wad of clutter will get cleared. Our future guests are going to enjoy one heck of a nice mattress. Good things will come out of this unpleasant situation, so help me.

There’s more to the story about how the whole process of me finding out went down, but I’m going to have to save that for another time. It’s time to go eat a big nourishing breakfast and gather our supplies and talk about how we’re going to do this thing.

Oh my gosh! I just cannot believe a guest in your home would allow someone else to come and stay there! Most inconsiderate!! I hope your day of cleansing went well and that all will be back to normal soon.

That you guys get it and understand why this situation is upsetting means *so much* to me. Thank you.

Oh, and to be clear: it’s Andy and I getting an opportunity to work together as a team. My teacher is *always* on my team. :)

Ugh, ugh, triple UGH!!! And a huge hug… I know it’s a ton of work but you’ll feel so much better when the cleansing is really done.

I just have to say it again… UGH!!!

Yay for the cleansing, Darcy – even if the cause was icko. With all the work you two are doing, it seems like a perfect time.

Love this: “The creation of a proper guest room will be getting bumped to the top of our priority list, and what has to happen to make that a reality is all good stuff.”

Happy dance. I’m cheering you on!

:) Jen
